Why try an eyelash serum?
I am a beauty professional who is always looking for products to try on my clients. I have always had very light, short and sparse eyelashes. They got even worse when I started wearing eyelashes every day for many years. Although I will still wear lashes because I like the dramatic look, I’ve always wanted to try a serum to see if I could treat even my natural lashes as much as possible.
So…this is what my lashes looked like before this 30 day challenge.
I hope the short lashes will fill in more and regrow the ones that have fallen out quickly. This will also make it easier for me to apply eyelash extensions when I decide to. I’d like to not wear them all the time and have nice lashes that I can throw some mascara on too.
My 30-day experience with RapidLash serum
Week 1: The initial meeting
The packaging is a bit flimsy but the product itself is solid. The applicator is a thin brush that you simply drag just above the lash line once a day. It is easy to apply. The instructions are clear and easy to follow.
Here’s a quick video I made showing how easy it is to apply!
The product burns if you get it in your eyes. So far I haven’t noticed much of a difference in my lashes, but I wasn’t expecting much in the first week. Disclaimer, I have a faded permanent eyeliner tattoo.
Week 2: Halfway Hustle
I’m starting to notice a little growth at the 2 week mark. So far everything is going well. I have very sensitive eyes and skin and haven’t had a problem unless it gets in my eyes when I rub them very soon after.
In the two week photo, you can see a bit more thickness and the lashes starting to fill out. I’m excited to see what the next two weeks hold!
Week 3: The plot thickens
Going into week 3, I’m noticing a bit more fullness. You also notice that the mascara goes on and looks a little better than on short lashes. I still had no side effects. I’m very sensitive to things, especially my eyes, and this didn’t bother them.
Week 4: The Grande Finale
In the last week, I’ve noticed more fullness on most lashes, except for those short, stubby outer corners I have from wearing false lashes for many years.
I was hoping for a little more padding, but they’re a lot smaller than the rest, so I wasn’t expecting much. Overall, it was slower progress, but if you keep using it, I think it would make a big difference!
When I compare the before and after pictures side by side, I can tell the difference. To be honest, it’s not crazy, but it’s there. And I only applied it for 1 month. Generally, manufacturers recommend a longer period of time before evaluating results.
I know it’s a mouthful, but Isopropyl cloprostenate is the ingredient you should pay the most attention to in this formulation.
This active ingredient is what is known as a prostaglandin analog, which mimics the hormones your body produces to help promote eyelash growth. That said, it doesn’t come without some concerns.
If you want to learn more about prostaglandins, be sure to read this article to learn about their side effects and alternative prostaglandin-free eyelash serums.
Some other key ingredients:
Biotin: Also known as vitamin B7, biotin improves the health, strength and structure of eyelashes. It will help the hair become more durable and less prone to falling out.
Copper tripeptide-1: This peptide helps increase collagen and elastin production. This can strengthen and volumize your lashes. It also has anti-inflammatory properties.
Panthenol (provitamin B5): This is a key ingredient in many product formulations. It is well known for its ability to hydrate, soothe, heal and regenerate the skin. For eyelashes, it conditions the hairs making them look longer and more voluminous.
Final thoughts
In the end, I was pretty happy with the results I got with the RapidLash Growth Serum. My lashes looked longer even if I only tried it for 30 days.
Despite the occasional eye-burning sessions and the minor hit to my wallet, I’ve come out the other side with gorgeous lashes that could give any mascara ad a run for its money.
So if you’re thinking about joining the Lash League, I think you should give RapidLash a try. If you’re on the fence and not sure if this is the right lash serum for you, check out our lash serum rankings here. I know I will definitely keep using this to see how far I can take my lashes!
