Your lash salon is a reflection of you, and not just as a lash artist. It needs to be attractive, inviting and make a big impression on your lash clients so they keep coming back! Use your personal style to show off what you and your salon are really about.
It is very important to balance your own tastes (and the tastes of your customers) with the practical side. If your salon looks great, but you spend half your time walking back and forth to get your supplies, it might be time to reconsider.
Let’s take a look at what you should pay attention to when designing the interior of your living room:
Think about what your customers want
Many of your clients will use their appointment as a time to relax, unwind and catch up. Think about who you are ideal client for eyelashes it is also what they are looking for in the space. Researching your target audience and understanding what motivates them to get their lashes done is essential – and the same goes for your lash studio!
Look at the layout of your eyelash room
The bulkiest items in your eyelash room are probably yours eyelash bed or lash chair, overhead lighting and all the storage you need. The lash bed/chair in particular will take center stage, but all lash rooms are different sizes, so take the time to experiment with different layouts to get it right. Make sure you have enough space to blink properly.
It’s also important to have enough space for your tools to be accessible so you don’t spend valuable time during the appointment trying to locate the items you need.
Being able to work healthily is very important when thinking about layout (check out our Lash Salon Hygiene Checklist for some indicators). Think about the lighting and where the electrical outlets are too – you’ll need both to blink effectively!
Decoration
How you choose to decorate your eyelash room or living room is completely by you. You know your customers, your taste and what your competitors are doing. Take the time to look online for some inspiration and see what other salons in your area are like – you don’t want it to look exactly like a competing salon. Your hair salon should be as unique as you are!
Keep in mind that your hair salon is a part of you brand, and that everything must fit together. Your website, social media, any printed materials and your salon space should look like members of the same family.
Ventilation, humidity and temperature are essential
In addition to lighting and gear, the ventilation, humidity and temperature of your docking area are huge. If one of these things is out of balance, it can be an application or hold problem – not ideal for a lash artist! Luckily, there are things you can do in your lash area if any of them are missing, like a humidifier or extra rings.

It’s not just about how it looks…
Sound can make a difference in your eyelash area too! Depending on your clientele, music can be a great way to really liven up the atmosphere in any lash room. It can also help cover any outside noise, cover any awkward silences, or stop some chattier clients from talking too much during their appointment (oh, that happens sometimes!)
Well, ask yourself. Does your Spotify playlist reflect the image of your salon?
Don’t forget retail
Retail can be one of those things that we forget as lash artists – you have back to back appointments, your clients are in a rush and sometimes it’s a little uncomfortable. If you want to maximize your income and ensure that your customers maintain their eyelashes properly, you need to stock and sell aftercare products to your customers.
We recommend keeping them according to your payment area, prominently displayed with their benefits clearly displayed – so they’re easy to reference!
